As thankful as I am that I get to take pretty pictures all the time, I am even more thankful for the subjects that step in front of my lens. Mike and Heather are my kind of people. They are so outgoing, welcoming, and are the kind of folks who invite you for appetizers and drinks after their session only to eat mini tacos and chat for hours about life and wedding plans and family, and we leave promising to hang out as soon as possible. They are people who everyone loves and who you want to spend your weekends with. I loved chatting with Heather about her and Mike. Their relationship is simple and funny and lovable. She joked that she was his first and last girlfriend, and was the only one to ever disengage his bachelor ways (P.S. I caught a glimpse of Mike’s house and it has Packer carpeting! Heather said that gets to stay 😉 ) Their excitement to start their lives together is off the charts. She gets to move in, they get to start a little family (beginning with their cute pups already!), and they get to spend summer evenings watching sunsets over the lake. Mike truly has the coolest piece of property in Larsen and it was so much fun to tour their neighborhood for their e-sesh!
Okay… before I finish up, I HAVE to tell you their engagement story! At the end of their session, Heather asked if we could take a quick pitstop where Mike proposed. I happily agreed and was pumped to see where this all went down! Their engagement story began on Heather’s 30th birthday. Life was crazy at that time and they didn’t have big plans. Heather didn’t think much of it and was looking forward to grabbing a bite to eat and doing something simple to celebrate. Once she was ready, Mike told her to look outside, there was a surprise waiting for her. She opened the front door only to find a LIMO waiting! What an awesome 30th birthday surprise, she thought 😉 All giddy, they hopped in and shared a few drinks. She noticed that Mike was acting a little different, but she didn’t want to bring anything up. They neared a curve in the road, and the limo pulled over. Mike dropped to one knee, and with the most beautiful ring (see photos below!), asked his love to spend forever with him. The place where they stopped is what was so thoughtful, as it is near and dear to Mike and his family. His grandpa lived right down the road from that spot, of whom Mike was super close to. After the “Yes!”, their big night was followed by a surprise party filled with all of their family and friends. Truly, a night to remember!
I can’t wait for you to meet these two and share in their joy!
