Zach + Haley – Celebrating an engagement and a birthday weekend away in Door County, WI

Oh how refreshing it was to photograph these two “just being” during their engagement session. The ice cream location we originally had planned to take photos at closed early, they had a long car ride from Chicago, and after being bummed for a millisecond, we found a spot on the fly that was even more adorable (with duck food for only .25cents 😉 ) and had a ball exploring the beauty and charm of DC! This just goes to show that it’s never about the things around you, it’s the you that is the most important during your engagement and wedding pictures! Removing expectations, rolling with the punches and enjoying every second because you’re with your favorite person on a really special day. We had the most relaxed, easy going, fun day in Door County to kick off Haley’s birthday weekend and I loved the spontaneity of it all!! I especially loved that it was a day these two would normally have while on vacation, and I just got to tag along to capture it!

It was sweet to see Zach take care of Haley during this session. Taking the lead and holding her hand while they wandered in the woods and climbed up rocks. And Haley, her presence is so warm, joyful and incredibly sweet which made their interactions and pictures that much more love-filled. These two are a pair I could hang with all day!! I cannot wait for their wedding in Chicago next fall… counting down the days until they’re back in front of my camera being just as wonderful as they were on this day! Maybe next time we’ll leave the ducks behind 😉
