I always enjoy our e-mails, coffee dates, chats about high school and new jobs and graduation and wedded bliss. Travis and Carolyn have so many exciting moments to celebrate in their lives and I am feeling so lucky to hear about all of these exciting things and to photograph a time so special in their relationship. These two have a knack for style, a love for photography and an appreciation for pretty things (before we began the shoot we talked about how much we love rows, clean lines and vertical trees… you can’t just talk about those things with anyone without them thinking you’re nuts!) They chose Cherry Lane Orchards in Door County, a place where we could run through the trees and layout a picnic and play in the long rows of beautiful blossoms. I will forever say that magic happened here! With the scenery, their playfulness, the sun beaming and a visit from the rain… it was all magic and it all happened at the perfect times. Travis and Carolyn really are a match made. They laugh at the same things, they are so comfortable, they are caring and pay attention to details, they are charismatic, they surprise one another with fun ideas and gifts (hello, awesome picnic champagne!) and their love and happiness just can’t be mistaken. Even if I wasn’t taking their photos, I know that I would want to know them (and then beg them to let me take their photos, let’s be real.) Between the orchards and the tug boats and the spontaneous drive only to find one sweet dock, the most beautiful and funny and sweetest moments took place. I am so excited to debut their engagement session and to talk about them endlessly!
And, I can’t end without letting everyone know that we took a pause during the picnic to polish off a bottle of champagne and eat macaroons. Yes, the pistachio macaroons are delicious, and yes, they brought three glasses. Could I love them more? I think not!
