Julie

Julie’s fight: A memory day!

When Kristy reached out about photographing this day, I felt both heavy hearted and honored to part of the memory making at all once. Julie is fighting breast cancer and after her second round of chemo, it came time to shave her head to prep for the hair loss and treatments ahead. Instead of this day being one that was really heavy and dreaded, they wanted it to be uplifting and full of support. A way to document part of her journey and the family who is there for her every single step! Julie wanted to take the first swipe with the razor, but wanted her kids and grandkids to be part of the whole thing too. She took that first swipe, looked in the mirror, and after a moment, called the grandkids over and said with a HUGE smile, “look what grandma did!!” She dipped her head down to have the kids feel how prickly her head was, plopped kids on her lap, and had each one take a turn shaving her head while Kristy and Nikki helped them. In true grandma fashion, she made everyone feel comfortable, gave big hugs to tell them that she was alright and along with some tears, everyone laughed a lot <3 Isn’t she beautiful?! Sending so much love and many prayers to you all, an amazing group of people right here!

A big thanks to my friends at Branching Out & Company for donating the gorgeous floral crown <3

Meet Julie and her support system!:
