Jon + Olivia: A Camp Wedding Weekend, Eagle River, WI

It just so happens that in a season where family is on our minds and in our hearts, a family wedding is next on my list of weddings to share! My cousin Jon and his gorgeous wife Olivia hosted a wedding weekend up north at Pitlik’s Sand Beach Resort in Eagle River, WI this fall. I don’t think I will ever stop raving about their day and all the fun that made it entirely theirs. Their friends and immediate families headed north a few days before the rest of us. They stayed in cozy loft cabins along the lake that weekend, right on the resort, where they met for bonfires, old fashioneds and prepped for the big day. When I arrived to the property, it was them, their families and friends who helped put flowers in vases, set up pies for dessert, run errands and make the space ready for the big party. It was a labor of love, one where everyone pitched in a hand to help, and it was made clear how absolutely wonderful the people they surround themselves with are.

Jon is a talent in all things design, and I loved his take on their save the dates, wedding invites and wood signs around the property. They put their stamp on Pitliks and made the resort a place they will visit forever to reminisce and enjoy. On top of how amazing this day looked, it was one where authenticity and having a feel good day trumped everything. They made a comment in their thank you speech that as life goes on, it takes on different shapes, people get busy, move, grow, families don’t see one another as much and friends can only get together a few times a year. It’s not a bad thing, just life, the love never goes away. But sometimes, you get to have a day like theirs. You get to bring everyone you love under one tent to dance their pants off, drink delicious cocktails, catch up, laugh, take pictures and make memories together. They wanted to celebrate everyone on their wedding day, and considered each guest as part of their wedding party and their first favorite memory when thinking about their marriage.
