I get it

I recently was going through some photos from my California trip last year (more on the why for that later!) and boy did I get a good laugh at seeing some photos of myself. Of course when you’re on vacation or part of something cool, you want cool pictures to show for it! Well, me, being THE most awkward person in front of a camera, I surprisingly have no shame in trying to do those cool things you see those calm, cool and collected people doing. But, I’ll be first to say that it ain’t all pretty. Being in front of the camera can be totally awkward, I get it! (see proof below… yowzas… I swear these facial reactions are exactly what plays in my head every time a camera is pointed at me!) Before engagement pictures, the last time you probably had professional photos taken was for your senior pictures or maybe a family photo session. It’s not something that is part of your every day or every year, or perhaps even 5 years for that matter. You are not alone! Nerves run high and the whole, do I look at you? Do I look away? Should I do jazz hands? Do I smile? Not smile? Does my serious face make me look angry? HELP! Plays in everyones mind when that lens is pointed in your direction. Well maybe not the mind of Kim K, but you know what I mean.

My point here is, it’s totally okay to feel awkward in front of the camera and rest assured, the nerves WILL go away, I promise! A giant part of my job is to guide you, to help you, to laugh with you and to let you know where to put those darn hands. I will make you dance, tell you bad jokes, fix that fly-away piece of hair and give you the direction you need to make pretty pictures. And if you need to think about these far from cute photos that are now plastered on the internet to help you laugh a bit, by all means… 🙂
