Dear June,
You FLEW by and I can’t believe you are over. You have kept me busy, a bit stressed, and made me fall in love with my job a little bit more. I have looked back at my calendar and came to realize that within this lovely month, I have tackled a double header weekend every weekend, which is 8 weddings in 4 weeks and 20,000 photos to cull through. I have also had 5 engagement shoots, 3 miscellaneous sessions, 1 senior and have met with clients to discuss timelines and wedding details. I have traveled all over Wisconsin, set up viewing galleries, finalized my packaging/branding, and have stayed up until the wee hours of the morning editing until my fingers fall off. In my personal time, I have been going to bridal showers and bachelorette parties for friends when I can, taken on the role as a Big Sister to my awesome cousin Mal (I’m sure you will be seeing some of her!), Returned from Florida, finished up a ceramics class and spent every second in-between with my favorite people. Every single day my calendar had something on it and one day off to just “be” was not do-able. Honestly, sometimes it was hard to keep my head above water and I’d pray for the second I could hit my pillow.
Will I ever take on this many tasks in one month again? Not a chance. Would I trade this month for anything? No way. It has taught me so many things and I have loved so many moments of you, June. The further along I get in this industry, the more I realize that it is a balance beam. Sometimes you have to step away, designate days off and not be afraid to say no to a session with the fear that people might turn to someone new. I have to remind myself that this is part of me, not all of me, and I have these past few weeks to thank for that lightbulb.
June, you have been eye-opening, inspiring, crazy beautiful and filled with so many memories.
July, I look forward to you! I look forward to weekends off attending weddings as a guest, hitting the dance floor to show off my cupid shuffle loud and proud (as opposed to doing a little jig in a corner), cookouts, golfing, farmers markets, Brewer games, picking up best friends from the airport and trips to Beaver Island and to the north woods to visit my Grandma.
As June comes to an end, I feel thankful for being busy, for opportunity. Until next year!
