Anika and Will, married at Folklore Village with goldenrod and paper cranes circling round. Our weekend with them began with a variety show, the night before, with poetry from friends, songs from dad and stories that made hearts happy. They drank Spaghett and ate homemade apple pear crisp. It was a picnic style party to meet and mingle and to bring their communities together, something they so love to do, and one of their many talents.
All of their efforts and crafts went into this day, a nod to the love and appreciation they have for everyone who came to celebrate with them. A highlight, was an heirloom humidor filled with cigars, hand rolled from tobacco that they grew and cured. Another example, the paper cranes. One thousand paper cranes were made for whimsy and joy. Homemade bitters as gifts, hand stamped place cards and notes. Beautiful, local food. Their wedding rings were made by a close friend. There was a parade, too! From the ceremony site, the band led guests through the prairie, where parents threw kids on their shoulders, they waved fabric flags, they danced and hugged and the world felt right. Everything had intention and care, a reflection of Anika and Will, and gosh, we sure felt lucky to be witnesses to these experiences <3
