Derek + Emily, Pelican Lake, WI

When my family cabin and their family cabin are only 20 minutes away, you go up north for their engagement session!! Derek’s grandparents owned this cottage, it is now his parents, and it is a place that these two call “up north”, their happy place! I LOVE when scenarios like this happen because there’s always a sense of comfort, peace and fun at the family cottage and that is exactly what their photos look like <3 (and they got to take a mini-getaway too!) They kicked off their shoes, had treats ready for the neighbors dog just in case he mosey’d over, and we ended the day in a pineapple floatie because you can’t go up north and not float. It was such a “feel good” day and I know that their wedding will completely have that same happy, laid back feeling.

It’s the simple things in life for Derek and Emily and I love that about them!! Feeling pretty darn lucky that our paths crossed!!
