Steven + Katie: Intimate, holy & happy wedding day with close friends and family, hometown church & Green Bay, WI
Timing is a crazy thing, sometimes misunderstood but having this kind of happiness, this kind of day is always worth the wait. Steven and Katie have been through a lot, their story and their spirits are so inspiring <3 Their strength and love will tug at your heartstrings and I’m so glad they are open to sharing their story. I think we all can learn something from these two.
Steven and Katie met 9 years ago in Portland, Oregon while Steve was playing MLS soccer for the Portland Timbers. Katie traveled out there for work and they met through mutual friends. They had a long-distance relationship for almost 7 years mostly due to his career! That, itself, is so inspiring! Steve proposed in 2013 and they planned their first wedding that same year, until Steve was injured on the field (he went up for a header and was elbowed in the face by a dirty player). His facial and brain injuries were so severe that they had to postpone their wedding (Steve likes to call himself the Terminator because they had to reconstruct half of his face with titanium.) Within two years they planned their second wedding, but a couple months before that they almost lost his dad to a stroke. Thus, that wedding was also postponed. Here they are today, beaming with joy, in disbelief that they are here, stronger than ever, thankful, wildly in love.
Their light, love and perseverance shines through their words and their personalities, and in the words of Katie, the third wedding is the charm 🙂 After all of that, after thoughts of how and what to do next, they decided they didn’t want more time to pass before they can call themselves husband and wife. They planned this wedding in TWO months and I am so proud of them. She is a teacher at Holy Spirit, which is where their ceremony was held <3 They celebrated after at Gather on Broadway where a delicious meal was served, where they held great conversations and wrapped their arms around their favorite people. They even set up a little play area with presents, games and tented reading nooks for the kids! What a dream for those little ones! Their parents, siblings, nieces and nephews and close friends were present to cheer for them while they entered this new journey together. So much pride, support, love and happiness hugged their sweet day. It was an honor to be there and to learn from Steven and Katie. We’re so happy for you two and with you ALL the best! <3
Meet the new Mr. and Mrs.!!!:
Congratulations and God’s blessings on the two of you!
