My hope for you

Dear lovebirds,

As I polished off my 2016 wedding information, I thought long and hard about my hopes for you. What do I hope you gain from hiring me as your photographer? What do I hope for the outcome of your photographs and what do I have to contribute to your wedding day as your photographer? How do I hope you feel about your wedding day when you wake up in the morning?

As cliché as it sounds, I put myself into your shoes. I approach and shoot and edit each wedding day as if they were my own sacred memories. What would I want to make sure is captured? That wildly hilarious moment between the bride and maid of honor and his reaction to seeing you in that gown for the first time. Grandparents faces when they are the last ones on the dance floor for the longest married couples dance and those tears that you think you can blink back, but can’t. My hope is when you look back on your photos, you are placed back into those moments. You remember that you had goose bumps and that your cheeks hurt from laughing and remember how the sun felt on your face that day. My hope is that your grandkids someday find your wedding album in a drawer and stare in awe at how pretty their grandma is and how happy and in love you are. My hope is that you always remember your wedding day as the best day of your life, one that was yours. I want to take photos of you and your favorite people, and I also want you to enjoy your guests and tear up the dance floor and get lost in moments. Oh, I hope you embrace each moment. Stare at your new husband or wife and remember how much love you felt that day, how you considered yourself the luckiest. I hope that as your friend and photographer, I add to the joy. I promise to laugh with you, to help you, to find that extra bobby pin you need and to make your day easy.

My hope is that you don’t get lost in planning and that you get lost in the people around you, celebrating with you. While you’re busy doing that, I’ll be there smiling behind my lens, knowing that you will forever get to relive your favorite parts of the best day of your life! (I really do have the best job ever.)
