You know it’s going be a weekend of sweet nostalgia and sunsets when you celebrate at Coon’s Franklin Lodge in Woodruff, Wisconsin. Luke & Emmy invited their families and friends to the Northwoods of WI, a place where they feel the magic and a place that has felt like a home away from home. In the morning, Emmy wore her grandmother’s slip while getting ready, she waved to the camcorder that was passed around and mazed through a getting ready room full of laughing, gifts, curling irons, dresses, cottage decor, hugs, floor picnics and helping hands. Luke’s gang was playing cards and sports and taking it easy. I passed guests sipping coffee on their screened porches. That’s what they hoped to do on this day, take it easy, enjoy, be in the moment, practice presence, let go and get married.
They got married at a church a few miles away. People close to the family played the music, which later carried into a violin concert during cocktail hour featuring the bride’s sister & their music teacher entertaining the crowd with Stairway to Heaven. There was so much to be proud of and you could feel it to and from their parents, siblings, wedding party, everyone. It was windy at times, the water sparkled and the sun drenched. There was champagne on the dock and a let’s-kick-our-shoes-off and just “be” by the water moment. People were dancing off the dance floor because it completely filled in 10 seconds. We love how the whole day felt timeless, that a weekend like this would always have memories of being wonderful and relevant and meaningful and purposeful. Thank you for the memories, Luke, Emmy and clan, and Coons! <3
