Dan and Marie were engaged around Thanksgiving (of just this last year!) and never wanted a long engagement. They were ready to tie the knot and get going with their lives! With a short engagement and the distance (they are currently located in Illinois!) we were unable to get in an engagement shoot, so the first time I met this duo was on their wedding day. I had no doubt they were awesome just from our conversations, but I didn’t know HOW awesome! They are both teachers, Dan a high school math teacher and Marie a teacher for middle school choir. They met in the first and only district either of them have taught in! A friend of theirs gave a toast at the wedding and made note that Dan and Marie are just stand out people, they work over 60 hours a week and love their jobs, and of course, being able to work together. They appreciate the simple things, going on hikes, walks, going to concerts together. Their wedding day was a reflection of simplicity. They kept it intimate with a small guest list, had two people stand up on each side, and their entire day just radiated elegance and fun (with a splash of beer mac + cheese for dinner… score!) They had groomsmen that took charge of fluffing Marie’s dress after she walked down the aisle, bridesmaids that were crazy helpful and family that just couldn’t say enough kind words about them. These are days and people we love!
I had a hard time believing their wedding day was planned in just 4 short months! The care for details and elements that made their day uniquely them were SO GOOD. Marie’s choir students were also their singers for their ceremony. They were wed by two very close friends, which made their day even more personal. One of my favorite parts of their wedding was when they said their own vows to one another – they were so much the same that we all had to giggle! Their hearts match, their minds think alike, and they are more than ready to start their brand new journey as Mr. and Mrs. Putman. What an honor it was to capture such a great day, one that just made you smile after walking out the doors when it came time to leave. Without a doubt, the perfect kick start to 2015 wedding season!
