WISCONSIN WINTER WEDDING DAY
Gosh, this day! Brides and grooms who pave their own path for their wedding day are always okay in my book. Better than okay, they are awesome. Your wedding day should be a true reflection of you, a day surrounded by your family and friends, and complete in a way that makes you comfortable and ready to celebrate officially becoming husband and wife. Chris and Jordan did just that. They had an intimate ceremony at Bridgewood, it was in a private room where everyone could appreciate and soak in the moment. In the beginning of the ceremony, Lisa asked everyone to hold hands, to pray together and to show support and togetherness. Their vows were quiet, personal, and just for the two of them and Sylas. It felt like their ceremony froze time, honestly. We all watched as an amazing promise and the joining of a family began, it was truly wonderful. Lisa is Jordan’s mom, who took on roles of matron of honor, officiant (after a last minute cancellation), and wedding planner. She is a rockstar and Jordan appreciated every little thing. The closeness of these families will make you tear up! AND, Jordan’s grandma’s were her flower girls. They looked beautiful and so happy all day!
Since Chris, Jordan, Sylas, and Chris’s family and friends all live in Louisiana, Jordan wanted to have a winter wonderland wedding! She wanted everyone to experience Wisconsin and her hometown in the best way; freezing temperatures and a dang good time. Although the snow nearly melted (you can never guess the weather here, I swear!) we found something even better, ICE! Chris has had only a few experiences being on frozen water, and for a lot of their bridal party, it was their first time hanging out on a frozen lake. Taking photos on Lake Winnebago is something that not everyone can say they did on their wedding day, so this was extra cool for a group who doesn’t get to experience it often, and for a couple who loves to try new things and have fun with whatever life throws! It was hilarious watching Chris take nervous steps while Jordan held him up, we had so much fun out there.
Whenever I think about what to write for blog posts for weddings, I always like to remember what stood out that day, what was different, what triggered emotion. Things were a little chaotic the morning of the wedding day (like a lot of weddings are!), and it was like a wave of calm and happiness settled over everyone when the doors opened and Chris locked eyes with Jordan. Their nerves were at bay and all they cared about was one another and Sylas, that was all that mattered in that moment, and that vibe carried the rest of the day and I know will carry them through their marriage. Thank you endlessly for having us there to photograph some of the most memorable moments, we loved crying with you, partying with you, and hanging with your fabulous families and friends. You Louisiana folk need to make your way to Wisconsin more often!
