What a vibrant, beautiful, fun-filled wedding day in Cedar Falls, Iowa! We pulled up to their church the morning of the wedding day to find Erik and his groomsmen decking out the Lund getaway car, and Kim and her ladies hanging out, laughing and enjoying the morning. This was a wonderful preview for what was to come this day! Everyone was completely at ease and completely happy. Kim unzipped the bag from her dress, looked at me, said “IT’S SO ME!” she slipped in, twirled around, and was more than ready to see Erik for their first look. We brought Erik outside, set him in position, and told him that Kim was on her way out to see him. Both of them, all smiles. He saw her for the first time as a bride, picked her up, spun her around, and they giggled at each other in amazement that THIS was the beginning of their wedding day, it was finally, finally here.
The Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center was simply gorgeous. They took the clean, modern space and added vibrant colors to match the fun and summery oranges and pinks that hugged their wedding day. Truly, one beautiful space with the kindest, most helpful staff! The reception came, we were able to snap some photos on stage ( SO COOL! ) and they cheered their way down the steps to celebrate the night with their favorite people with the help of the DJ + Dueling Piano combination – Piano Fondue! The speeches during dessert were incredible, especially Erik’s words to his guests and his bride. He made a comment that was really thoughtful, saying that even though this wedding day is supposed to be about them, it really is about the people who were in the room that night. Their families, friends, their biggest support system. With them, their relationship is strong and joyful. He spoke about Kim, how he can’t wait to roll over in the morning and see her smile, and he surely knows he’s the luckiest man in the entire world. Erik and Kim have a love and a relationship that will last forever (and ever). Even when chatting with guests and passing one another throughout their reception, they would squeeze the others hand – I loved capturing those little, intimate moments.
